Good Egg Days
Stuart Good Egg Days is the annual celebration in Stuart. The name comes from the old town motto of “Home of 1700 Good Egg Days..and a Few Stinkers.” The event will be held June 16-18 in 2017.
The schedule for 2017 Good Egg Days is not yet available. Planning meetings are currently taking place to plan some of the events of next years Good Egg Days. Upcoming Good Egg Days planning meeting dates can be seen below. Meetings typically take place on the second Wednesday of each month. These are held at the Stuart Public Library at 6:30pm and are open to the public.
2017 Good Egg Days: Bringing it Home
The 2017 edition of Good Egg Days in Stuart will operate with the theme “Bringing It Home”. The Stuart Chamber and community based annual celebration is held over Father’s Day weekend, June 16-18 this year. Bringing It Home as a theme will be seen in three different connotations:
Bringing It Home… to downtown Stuart!
The committee working on the annual celebration is making plans to bring more activity to the recently renovated and improved downtown Stuart. With new infrastructure, facades, lighting and a new park, it is time to bring more folks downtown with expanded events and extension of the parade into the downtown area!
Bringing It Home… for a weekend!
We are focused on bringing back more former Good Eggs and Alumni for the weekend. The group is working hard to provide better information for class reunion organizers and alums to plan their trip. There will soon be a reunion planning section on the Stuart, Iowa website and several open houses are planned for out of town guests to view what is new and improved. At this time, we know the Depot and Masonic Temple building will be open for tours.
Bringing It Home… for a lifetime!
In recent years, Stuart and the surrounding areas have benefited from the return of young and older adults to their hometowns. This migration home has certainly become a positive influence on civic and business life in the community. We have also benefitted greatly with newcomers choosing our town to be their home and we also gain strength from those that remain after school years to add to our town life. In the next month leading up to Good Egg Days, we will feature some of these families that have enriched our lives. Look for their stories in the Stuart Herald and on the Stuart Iowa Hometown Facebook page.
Additional Good Egg Days information is coming soon to the website. Also, the committee is now accepting vendor applications! Participation forms for the 5K Race and 3X3 Basketball Tournament will be available soon! Tentative event schedule will be made public soon… the next planning meeting is Wednesday, May 10 th at 6pm at the Stuart Public Library; all are welcome to attend!
